A company may issue debentures by public subscription or by private placement . The process of issue of debentures is same as is in the case of issue of shares, i.e., debentures are issued for subscription, applications along with Application Money are received. Like in the case of shares, the company may call the amount for debentures in lump sum or in instalments.
Debentures may be issued:
1.For Cash;
2. For consideration other than Cash;
3.As Collateral Security.
Debentures, whether issued for cash or for consideration other than cash,
1. at par;
2.at premium;
3. at discount.
